Inspired by Linda Sullivan's report of GBHEs on nests at Vasona, I
dropped by the west bank of the Coyote Creek to check on the GBHE
site between Tasman and Montague this morning Jan 10th, around 9:15AM.
I counted 29 Turkey Vultures in the trees. There were three GBHEs at
nests. As the vultures began flying in the area they flew close to
the nests. One GBHE was hopping between two old nest sites.
Eventually a TV settled next to the lower nest and that GBHE flew
downstream.
A fourth GBHE arrived, stayed a short while and then flew west. A
Red Shouldered Hawk called and then flew through the tree with the
nests. By 9:45 there were 12 TVs flying in the area and all the
GBHEs had left the nests. I left around 10:15.
Regards, Clysta
