After failing to find any migrant hummingbirds at Ed Levin Park, I headed to the EEC in Alviso. On the second island in salt pond A16 I had 1 second cycle and 3 first cycle GLAUCOUS GULLS. While watching them, a fifth individual (first cycle) flew by and landed in New Chicago Marsh. This island also had a bird of questionable parentage. It had the plumage of a Glaucous Gull but was small like a Herring Gull and had a bill pattern that was a little too blurry between the pink base and black tip. Maybe a hybrid?
There were also 2 adult ROSSS GEESE around this island. These may be the same birds that have been here this winter, but where they have been in recent weeks is a mystery to me.
SAVANNAH SPARROWS have started singing around the marsh.
