[SBB] Townsend's Solitaire

Last Saturday morning I was birding in the rain with my sister Judy at
Almaden Reservoir. A gray bird flew from a nearby shrub and perched on
a rock just slightly downhill toward the water. 'Outstanding
eye-ring', I immediately thought. We studied the bird since it gave us
the time. Back at the car we checked out Sibleys and later
Google/Images and some birding software. After eliminating other
birds of a specific color/ size/behavior/eye-ring etc. we were
convinced the gray bird was our first TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE.

This morning I returned to AR with my husband. Walking back from the
dam and having passed the first big curve, I spotted the TOSO up from
the road on the right, perched in a bare bush which was next to a bush
with small red berries. The bird again perched quietly moving only
slightly. I was able to see very pale orange/gold colors on the wings
and of course - the eye-ring !

Returning to our car, we met Ann Verdi along the road. We discussed
the bird and Ann suggested I post the sighting.
