Hello,
My husband and I saw a male BUFFLEHEAD in the permanent pond at Sunnyvale
Baylands Park this afternoon. This pond is just south of the Wave Walk. We
both believe this is the first time we have seen this species at this park
in our five years of walking regularly there. We first saw a female
Bufflehead in the pond on January 17, 2007 and have continued to see one
female most days, though not including today. This was the first time I've
seen a male here.
A pair of WHITE-TAILED KITES are keeping close company near the end of the
Wave Walk. I suspect they will nest in one of the Eucalyptus trees along
the Wave Walk. Last year they nested in the picnic area along the park
road.
