All,
This morning I made a quick stop at New Chicago Marsh where the male RUFF
was spotted on the south side of the EEC entrance road (still there when I left
at about 11:15). a quick check of Salt Pond A16 showed a significant
reduction in the number of Gulls on the islands. I assume that this means
that the larger Gulls are already starting to move out (this assumption is based
on my unscientific observations that Gull presence increases on the
islands during the weekends when the dump is closed). The only bird
of note on the islands in A16 was a juvenile PEREGRINE FALCON that was
perched on the third island out.
Take care,
Bob Reiling
