All,
Today 2/3/07, Mike Mammoser and I saw the continuing SWAMP SPARROW along Alviso Slough, 1/2 a mile from the Marina, where two large decaying pieces of yellow foam are at the edge of the reeds. The bird became very uncooperative after initially sitting up right near Mike for 15 seconds, so some luck/patience is needed for this bird.
>From the dike along the southern edge of pond A16 we saw a first-winter GLAUCOUS GULL (2nd island), a SANDERLING (2nd island), and a nearly completely white HERRING GULL (1st island) - I got some decent digiscopes of the two gulls - if anyone is interested in seeing what they looked like I can email them to you.
