Folks:
Yesterday morning, 8/27/07, I walked up the east levee from
Crittenden Lane to Hwy 101. The only migrants were a single male
YELLOW WARBLER and a male LAZULI BUNTING. On my return I ran into a
family group of HOODED ORIOLES (female and two young), but there was
no begging or other signs of dependency. A male Mallard Duck
foraging in the creek caught a good-sized red swamp crawfish
(non-naitve). It took a while, but he got it down.
This morning, 8/28/07, I checked out the Sunnyvale Baylands
Park. The only migrants were 3 YELLOW WARBLERS (cottonwoods) and a
HOUSE WREN (small marsh).
