This morning (Wed, Apr 18) I saw an adult male PURPLE MARTIN along Alamitos Road by Almaden Reservoir. I first saw it in flight, and then for a short time it perched on a telephone wire along with several VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS, and I was able to note its over-all glossy blue-black coloring, its forked tail, and the long extension of its wings. I also saw one VAUX'S SWIFT zooming in low over the same area.
