I did a two mile loop in Quicksilver Co. Park from the McAbee entrance
this morning. My FOS Ash-throated Flycatcher was calling from a tree up
the hill and another heard along the Mine Hill Trail. Cal. Thrasher and
Wrentits heard along the Guadalupe Trail where many Yellow-rumped
Warblers were singing in the oaks. A pair of Western Bluebirds were
sitting side by side on the wire at the crest of the hill again. The
female flew into a woodpecker cavity near the top of a telephone pole.
So that's why they're hanging around!! Just yesterday I was hoping to
see WEBL in a natural cavity.
The following birds were seen carrying food, presumably to nestling's.
Bewicks Wren, Oak Titmouse, Dark-eyed Junco and Common Raven. The raven
was circling overhead for some time, not sure of his intentions.
At the junction of Senador and Guadalupe trails I heard a Rufous-crowned
Sparrow singing. I walked west 50 yards from the bench and found the
RCSP perched atop a clump of Coyote brush. Walking down the Senador
trail, I came to a birdy area where I saw Bewicks Wren, Wrentit, and
heard a Wilson's Warbler. A Warbling Vireo, and several Hermit Thrush
were singing further up the hillside. I had five Orange-crowned Warblers
with two seen and seven calling Hutton's Vireos with a pair seen near
the entrance.
