I ran into Ann Verdi in Guadalupe Oak Grove Park this morning. We didn't
find yesterdays Black throated Gray Warbler but did see a Vaux's Swift
flying in the distance.
Ann was lamenting about not yet seeing a Pacific-slope Flycatcher, when
a very loud PSFL called overhead. We followed that bird around the park
until Ann finally got the briefest look, as it flew off to another perch.
We also compared two thrushes in the parking lot. One was a Hermit and
the other a possible Swainson's Thrush. Later I returned and found the
bird again. It's face was buffy, it had lighter and fewer spots than the
Hermit and its tail lacked any obvious rufous color. It hangs around the
parking lot near a neighboring fence. A Western Bluebird pair and ten
Robins were also seen in the parking lot again today.
I braved the wind at the water district where I found a Canada Geese
pair with six fuzzy goslings. A Greater Yellowlegs was still in the
river channel but not much else.
