I went to Ed Levin Park today, 9 Apr 07, and found at least 3, possibly 4, pairs of LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCHES near the parking lot for the hang gliders. I tracked down 2 nest-building locations that seem to be different from the one that Dean described.
A male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was utilizing the flowering eucalyptus here, as were 3 female selasphorus hummers. The area also had a pair of WESTERN KINGBIRDS and WESTERN BLUEBIRDS.
An adult GOLDEN EAGLE was soaring overhead, and the hundreds of swallows flying about included a couple WHITE-THROATED SWIFTS.
