They are still there. Today I saw 5 of them on the pond as first
pointed out by Charles Krenz on April 2. The pond is located on the
left side of the Old Spanish hiking trail near the trail head which
is located at the confluence of Los Trancos road,Lake Road and Old
Spanish Trail road in Portola Valley. Be patient going out Los
Trancos road which is off Alpine Road and exactly how you reach the
trail head depends upon whether you go the long way around on Los
Trancos road to Old Spanish Trail or go the block up the 1 way
stretch of Old Spanish Trail to Lake road to the trail head. Best
to check a map to see it all laid out. I have been having lots of
luck photographing Woodys earlier this year at Santee Lake in San
Diego but the shot take here was a insteresting behaviour shot,my
first showing this species eating pond grass which is likely why they
are hanging around so long,
