[SBB] Palo Alto Baylands Birding This Morning

This morning I scouted birding spots along the Bay in Palo Alto for Our "Wild Women Birders" team Birdathon on April 21.  I had three interesting finds.  At about 10:45 a.m. I viewed a Clark's Grebe diving in the water directly in front of the Lucy Evans Baylands Nature Interprative Center.  I have never before seen a Clark's Grebe at or near this location.

At about 11:30 a.m. I refound what may to be the same Ross's Goose with a flock of Canada Geese in nearly the same spot on the hillside at Byxbee Park that I saw it last Friday.  Also with the flock were at least seven smaller geese which I think were
Cackling Geese.  However, I would like to get another opinion on both of these finds.  To get to this spot from the parking lot at Byxbee, (1) take the first trail up the hillside, staying close to the fence.  (2) Once cresting the hill, go along the trail that follows the fence and (3) take the trail down the hill on the back side that meets the loop trail the hillside at the memorial bench dedicated to Sara(h) Doniach.  There is also a trash can next to this bench.  The flock was on the back side of the hill between the trail and the fence.

Also, a friend reported to me seeing either a Snow Goose or a Ross's Goose with a flock of Canada Geese yesterday late afternoon at the pond between Geng Road and the Palo Alto Municipal Golf Course.
