At Monte Bello's Gate 5 pond this morning
9/25/2006, there was still an adult Chipping Sparrow in the willows and a
unidentifiable (but calling) passerina bunting seen only in silhouette against
the early sun. Two Lawrence's Goldfinches showed up again and landed in the
willows for a while. Looking up at them I saw a diffuse group of silent Vaux's
Swifts soaring over - at least 9 individuals. No swallows with them today. The
immature Green Heron was still present too, and a Lincoln's Sparrow was in
coyote brush beside the gate itself.
Best regards,
Garth Harwood
