Rick,
Over the last two years, I've been regularly seeing
up to 10 or so birds on the west side of San Martin, mostly along Santa Teresa
Blvd. between California Avenue and Highland Avenue. These birds have been
slowly spreading out, as I have now seen them as far north as Watsonville Road
in Morgan Hill and as far east as Monterey Road in San Martin. I believe
these birds originated from the west side of the valley, rather than from the
Maple Ave. area east of 101, as they were at least initially concentrated near a
house that had a pen containing collared-doves, along Santa Teresa just south of
San Martin Ave. There are several pale and variegated birds in this
group.
