[SBB] 3 RUFFs in Alviso

Today, 9/20, at noon, I drove out to Alviso again, starting at the corner of State and Spreckles.  The leucistic/albino WESTERN SANDPIPER was present amongst the thousands of peeps in the waterbird pond.  There is a huge number of birds in the pond right now, so chances of finding other goodies is likely high.

I then met David Diller of Martinez, who quickly found two RUFFs, who were then joined by the third RUFF (the gimpy one).  All 3 RUFFs mingled together briefly, as we viewed them from Spreckles St., where it rises up just north of the intersection with State St.  We walked up Spreckles to get a better look, but the birds had flown by the time we got even with them.  So we walked back to the top of the rise, and re-found the birds, very close this time.  They were sitting down on the mud island, and difficult to see.  Eventually the gimpy one began foraging about.  They were still there when I left at 1:15 PM.

Also present was a WILSON'S SNIPE, RED-NECKED PHALAROPE, and a handful of WILSON'S PHALAROPES (in the pond at the other end of Spreckles, near the EEC entrance road).

Driving back to work I saw my first of the season SAYS PHOEBE sitting on the fence in front of the Jubilee Center.
