This morning, 17 Sep 06, I arrived at the end of L'Avenida at 7:00 am and walked to the alder trees along Stevens Creek about 100 yards south. I immediately found the NORTHERN PARULA foraging in these trees. It was quite cooperative and content for the 5 minutes or so that I watched it. Deciding that I needed to look for the Clay-colored Sparrow, I started back up the path. But after about 30 yards I thought that I should study the warbler for as long as it was there, and turned around. I was gone for only about 90 seconds, but found that the parula had disappeared when I returned to the spot, and I could not refind it. My search for the sparrow was unsuccessful.
The previous day I searched in vain for the parula and sparrow, but managed to pick up the MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER that Mike had found.
