I arrived later in the day, and was out from 3:45 to 6:15. John Sterling
was there from 5:15 on. There were plenty of migrants, but they were
staying very high in the trees east of the Meadowland Picnic area. I had at
least ten YELLOW WARBLERS, one WILSON'S WARBLER, three ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLERS, a NUTTALL'S WOODPECKER, and two flocks of BUSHTIT. Among
rarities, I found a NASHVILLE WARBLER by the restroom east of Meadowlands
Picnic area, consorting with Bushtits, at around 5:00 pm. I also had a
brief glimpse and auditory contact with what was likely the TENNESSEE
WARBLER around 5:45. No sign or sound of the Blackpoll or Chestnut-sided.
I may well try again tomorrow...
