[SBB] Chestnut-sided Warbler at Sunnyvale Baylands

About 8:00 this morning (9/14/06) Roland Kenner and I saw a first-winter
CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER in the double row of cottonwoods at Sunnyvale
Baylands Park. The bird had a green crown and back, white underparts with a
smudge of yellow in the vent area, 2 white wing bars (the upper shorter and
thicker than the lower), and a light eye-ring. We had only a few minutes to
look at the bird before it flew off. When we left at 10:30 it had not been
refound, but according to an 11:30 phone call from Bob Reiling, Peggy Don
refound the bird later in the morning in the same area and it was seen by
many birders.

The BLACKPOLL WARBLER that has been in the park for several days provided
nice looks for all the birders today. It was in the row of cottonwoods and
also spent some time in the adjacent eucalyptus trees. The Tennessee
Warbler had not been seen when we left.

Take care,

Pat Kenny
