All,
Frank Vanslager and I first re-found the BLACKPOLL WARBLER at 8:34 this
morning and as Kathy Parker said it was well seen by many as the
morning progressed (sightings slowing down around 11) . Afterwards
Frank and I made a quick trip out the RR tracks in New Chicago Marsh where we
found the "healthy" RUFF near the tracks about 100 YDS past the first pond on
the right while the "gimpy" Ruff was found much further out near where the
track starts to curve left. The limp on this Ruff is now much less
noticeable than before but it also seems to be much more nervous than the
other Ruff. Gimpy flew several times as we watched; anything coming near
her seemed to spook her and she was last seen in the far northwestern corner of
the marsh. The other Ruff does not seem to be bothered by people
moving as close as 20-30 feet from it. Also, five SNOWY PLOVER were
in the last pond on the left at the RR junction.
Take care,
Bob Reiling
