[SBB] Red-breasted Nuthatch

SBBirders---

On Sat. Aug. 4 2006 a RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH showed up in our south Los
Altos yard. It was pretty vocal and easy to locate. We get one of these
passing through maybe every other year, but only for a day. This
individual has stayed for 5 weeks, and was observed at one of our hanging
feeders over the weekend. Besides the large gray pine and Monterey pine in
our yard, there are several other mature conifers in the neighborhood which
this bird obviously enjoys. It's a pleasure to hear its distinctive
"ank-ank-ank" call nearly every day.
