The kids and I had a thrill this morning--I went out
to get the newspaper, and found that the Modesto Ash
by my house was hosting a flock of warblers and other
migrants!!! I'm not skilled enough to identify everyone,
but we spotted couple of YELLOW WARBLERS, yellow rumped
warblers, and an unidentified vireo, along with several
other types, about 15 or so birds flitting around. What a
delight to have them come to us--the kids and I sat in
the driveway admiring the action as the birds fed/flitted
around the tree.
(Other action observed during this at-home birding session:
Bewick's wren catching a moth, flicker going past, Anna's
hummingbirds chasing off intruders, etc. what fun.)
By 10:00, the action had died down... I saw one or two
on the tree later in the day, but nothing like 8-9 am.
Guess where I'll be tomorrow morning...!!! I hope they'll
be back.
