Hi all,
I was going through some of my older photos and found some shots of a bird
that showed up in my Cupertino yard in June 2006. I did not immediately
recognize this bird, but after consulting my field guides, decided that it
was an immature song sparrow. (FWIW, my yard is within 1/4 mile of Stevens
Creek where I have seen adult song sparrows.)
Do you think that I got the ID right or is there another more likely
species? I realize that it may be a difficult ID with only head shots of
the bird, but I never saw it come out into the open.
I'd be grateful to hear from anyone on the list if they have an opinion to
offer, but since this is unlikely to be of general interest, perhaps
responding off-list is best. I posted the photos here:

Thanks in advance,
Michael Pollack
