Hello everyone, and Happy Holiday.
I went to Shoreline Park in Mountain View today and was lucky enough to come upon a Common Goldeneye (breeding male). He was not very interested in having his picture taken, so I waited until he went underwater to have a bite to eat. I rushed up to the edge of the water and when he came up I took his picture. You can even see the drop of water that is still hanging on his beak.
Last year I took a photo of the female of this species. The object of his affection, I suppose.
I hope they are able to get together soon. They would make a handsome
couple.
Best regards,
Phil Terzian
