The family and I went birding at Charleston Slough around 3:30 pmon Sat. We had a lovely, birdy walk. We saw the "usual suspects:"coots, Anna's hummingbird, seagulls (don't have the skills to tellyou who!), white pelicans, killdeer, marbled godwits, avocets, stilts, the pair of kits, mallards, northern shovelers, double creastedcomororants, cinnamon teals, snowy egret, golden crowned sparrowwhite crowned sparrow, american widgeon, northern harrier. We were delighted to see green winged teal--close in, so we got a goodview. But the thrill of the day: the northern harrier swooped over "to the left"into the territory of the kites. We saw the kites harrass the harrierand chase it out of the area--fascinating to watch!! Then the kites tooka perch in their favorite tree, looking very satisfied. Definitely thehighlight of our walk.Ann
