I spent an hour and a half at Stevens Creek Park this morning, around the
Chestnut picnic area. Saw or heard many of the usual migrant suspects:
OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHERS, WESTERN WOOD-PEWEES, PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERS,
WARBLING VIREOS, BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS, BULLOCK'S ORIOLES. Also less
expected, one LAZULI BUNTING near the ranger station.
I got a picture of the Olive-sided -- not a good picture, but I'm happy to
get anything, given how high up they perch. Also have posted a Steller's
Jay picture taken there this morning, the first two in the gallery
http://www.pbase.com/tgrey/latest .
I looked for but couldn't find a ranger, trying to find out what's up with
the "no entry" signs governing large chunks of the Villa Maria patch. I
hope someone lets us know when that mystery is solved.
