[SBB] Picchetti for Earth Day

On the way to the Picchetti Winery this morning I spotted TED CHANDIK preparing to bird the Stevens Creek Reservoir. That's worth a tick off the day's list!  Spotting birds is one thing, spotting birders is another list all together.

Then during our morning walk around the Picchetti Winery we had both HOODED and BULLOCK's ORIOLES in the trees around the barn along with BLACK HEADED GROSBEAK.

The pond on the Zinfandel Trail was over flowing its banks and was quite birdy as HAIRY and NUTTALLS WOODPECKERS worked the same tree and WARBLING VIREO, WRENTITS and SPOTTED TOWHEES were found in pairs.

We had great views of 3 CALIFORNIA THRASHERS doing behaviors only the thrashers would understand.

While on the Zinfandel Trail we also had a pair of OSPREY and BELTED KINGFISHERS fly over.  A little un-expected, but the reservoir was just over the hill.

And the male Peacocks in all their glory - they are a sight to behold.  At this time of year the males are all walking around with their feathers all a flutter.  Its a wonder they don't tip over.
