Former bay area resident Kim Blythe Higdon and I birded in Guadalupe Oak
Grove Park this morning. Kim was happy to see all the oak woodland birds
she missed. We found a male White breasted Nuthatch feed the female at a
nest cavity along the wooded trail.
As we approached the playground at the southern entrance to the park Kim
spotted a CHIPPING SPARROW feeding on the ground. We looked closer
and found a total of four. They were seen again in the grass and along
the edge of the lawn south of the playground in adjoining Jeffrey Fontana
Park. Three W. Bluebirds and a No. Flicker were nearby. The rain didn't
let up so we called it a day after an enjoyable but rainy morning.
Kim would like me to greet SBB ers, and misses the great birding here.
The intersection where the CHSP were found is McAbee Road and Thorntree
Drive in Almaden Valley.
