Folks:
This morning, 4/12/06, I stopped by Charleston Road marsh in Mountain
View. On the north side of the western arm I heard a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH
singing, not far from the Par Course #14 sign. It sang a few times and
then gave some of its chip notes. It seemed just as shy as it has been
throughout the winter and I never saw it. Three HOODED MERGANSERS were at
the end of the western arm. They appeared to be females, although I'm not
certain what 1st-winter males look like at this time of year. This is
getting late for hoodies.
A basic HORNED GREBE is still at Shoreline Lake and I saw a CACKLING GOOSE
with the Canadas on the drive out.
