At 6pm, a WESTERN KINGBIRD was foraging from the low fence, at
Sunnyvale Baylands. He was located just this side of the 404 line
poles, behind the "closed due to budget cuts" restroom at the end of
the drivable portion of the roadway towards the southeastern end of
the park. He remained in view for over 20 minutes.
Also of note:
RED-SHOULDERED HAWK (eating a large frog, on a park bench!)
WESTERN MEADOWLARKS persist there.
Barely-seen adult male ORIOLE sp. heard singing (sounded like hooded,
but I couldn't swear to it)
Two GREAT EGRETS doing a hopping, dancing display at each other. Is
this courtship display or were they just standing in a flooded ant
hive?
The entire park is quite well-flooded after the rains. Bring your mud
shoes if you go.
