I was doing a survey in Guadalupe Oak Grove Park this morning and was rather disappointed with my results. I decided to walk on the wooded trail one more time in hopes of finding more Orange crowned Warblers. I saw what I thought was a Turkey Vulture fly to the side of a tree in the meadow, and discovered it was a Pileated Woodpecker!!! I worked its way around the back of a snag and flew off to the south. I met a man walking his dog and told him about my find. He said he saw it also and was going to ask me what it could be. He may have seen another PIWO because his bird was near the middle trail about the same time I saw mine.
