Re: [SBB] Another male rufous hummingbird

I have had a couple of Selasphorus Hummers (both male and female) in my yards (both front and back) for the past 2 weeks, mostly feeding from flowers in the yard, but mainly the flowers of an orange tree. The male was seen yesterday and the female was seen this morning, April 16. The male is moving too fast to get a good look at its back to see if it is rufous or green, all I notice is the bright rufous color spot zooming by. We have been wondering how much longer they will be around.

Both White-crowned (WCSP) and Golden-Crowned (GCSP) Sparrows are still coming to the ground feeders and American Goldfinches (AMGO) to the thistle feeders; seems later than usual for my area. We usually don't see the GCSP in breeding plummage; the colors are so much more intense than we usually see it.

This mature male Selasphorus, probable rufous to me, hummingbird was at my
feeders yesterday, near Montebello Road at 2100 feet. I haven't seen him
this morning, so he might also likely be a migrant.
