[SBB] Ed Levin and Alviso Marina CPs

Folks:

This morning, 4/25/06, I poked around a bit in Ed Levin CP and the Alviso
Marina CP. At Ed Levin, I spent most of my time in the band of eucs
between the GC and the Elm Picnic area and the other eucs near the Sandy
Wool Lake parking lots. Mostly I saw female Anna's with 5 or so female
_Selasphorus_ hummingbirds. I did have a cooperative 1st-spring male
RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD near the GC who perched repeatedly so I could see many
details. His gorget was about 2/3rds grown, but clearly not adult. There
was perhaps 30% green flecks on the upper back (mantle) area. The only
migrants at Ed Levin were multiple Yellow-rumped Warblers and a singing
male WESTERN TANAGER, my first of the season.

At the marina, I walked out to the impoundment N of the parking area and
counted 18 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, most females in very spiffy
plumage. There were quite a few Dunlin here, also looking great in their
alternate finery. I then walked over to the levee next to the cannery and
eventually saw the WHITE-THROATED SPARROW that has wintered here. Looking
across to Salt Pond A8, I counted two SNOWY PLOVERS.
