[SBB] Rufous Hummingbird at Fremont-Older OSP

This morning Pat Kenny and I walked into Fremont-Older OSP from the Prospect
Road entrance and saw at least two selasphorus hummingbirds, one an adult
male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD. From the parking area, if one walks up the road
about .3 miles there are elaborate rock terraces on the steep uphill side.
Downhill are a few bottle brush shrubs, a very large eucalyptus tree that is
now in bloom, and oaks. We saw the Rufous Hummingbird repeatedly on several
perches in these oaks, often below us, with a few full back views. The bird
was all rufous on its back.

Otherwise the walk was most notable for what we did not see: the swallows
and bluebirds that animate the grassy hillsides during the summer are not
there yet. We did hear a few ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERs.
