All,
I led my Palo Alto Adult School birding group to Joseph D. Grant
County Park yesterday. Highlights included 2 VIOLET-GREEN, 2 BARN and
1 NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS. We also had an adult BALD EAGLE at
the lake which took a PIED-BILLED GREBE from the surface! In a mixed
group of AMERICAN and LESSER GOLDFINCH there were also at least two
LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCHES in the conifers near the farm house
footbridge. A RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER was foraging near the large
picnic area. On the drive up from Alum Rock Ave we spotted a VARIED
THRUSH about a mile before reaching the park entrance.
