My understanding is that this path is actually a deer
trail that park visitors have made their own.
Unfortunately, the path eventually leads
the public onto private property. Park staff closed
the path for this reason. I hope this helps.

Hopefully, this answers Jack's question. I am just the
intermediary here, so I will gracefully and skillfully
