When Frank and I first saw the pair of Hooded Orioles we were also
witness to a swirling, de sending fight between a male Bullock's
Oriole and a male Cowbird. As the birds hit the ground the male
Cowbird flew off as the BUOR stood his ground and sang. Several seconds
later, after the BUOR flew off the male Cowbird was back at the fence near
where the conflict occurred and a female Cowbird flew from the tree to
the ground near the male Cowbird, I know who won the battle but I
wondered "Who really won the war?"
