Just looking for a quick sanity check here. this is out of area, but
I'm going over my photos from my trip, and this is strange..

down on the seaward breakwater of Dana Point Harbor, I ran into a
fairly large flock of brown pelicans. I took some general shots of
the group. Looking at them, I ran into the bird on the right. my
first reaction is "escapee stork", but is that a great blue with the
feathering and it's neck pulled in? It certainly wasn't what I was
expecting to see....
In other "what doesn't belong here" birds, when I birded the bait
barge at Dana Point, I ran into all of the normal suspects -- various
gulls, black crowned and great blue herons, a couple of egrets -- and
one male peacock in full display.
go figure.
(FWIW, I went and birded the newport beach back bay, dana point
harbor, oceanside marina, and a day and a half all over Morro Bay,
including spending some time watching one of the Peregrines that have
nested up on the rock... I'll write it up and post a link soon; if
you've never birded Morro Bay area, it really rocks)

IMHO: Jargon. Acronym for In My Humble Opinion. Used to flag as an
opinion
something that is clearly from context an opinion to everyone except the
mentally dense. Opinions flagged by IMHO are actually rarely humble.
IMHO.
