Hello,
This morning I came in to work to find a late (in more ways than one)
GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW on our 4th floor balcony. Probably a recent
window-strike victim. The body seemed to be fairly fresh, so I'm figuring
it happened early this morning. I was surprised to see one still in the
area this late in May.
On a happier note, I'm still seeing small flocks of CEDAR WAXWINGS along
Serra Street in the Eucalyptus trees, as well as outside our office
windows. I've also been hearing a singing BULLOCK'S ORIOLE along Serra,
and had an earlier sighting with Chris MacIntosh of a singing male HOODED
ORIOLE in the Cactus Garden on May 3.
On the home front (South Palo Alto) I'm enjoying the antics of three
fledged DARK-EYED JUNCO youngsters perusing my herb garden.
