Re: [SBB] special visitor

Topical to this specific discussion there is a great little book called
"Squirrels of the West" by Tamara Hartson. It is published by Lone Pine
Press. It doesn't map the introduced populations of Eastern Grey and Fox
Squirrels though, but it is great for those tough chipmunk identifications
;-). Chipmunks are like Empidonax flycatchers, once someone publishes a tape
with their vocalizations, we will be able to figure them all out.
There are two relatively new mammal field guides out. The Kaufman
Focus Guide to Mammals with photos, and the Princeton Mammals of North
America (Kays and Wilson). The Kaufman focus guide has more information on
how to identify things, including voice sometimes, but in many cases I
prefer the illustrations in the Princeton guide to the photos in Kaufman.
