Hello SBBers,
A nice evening out along the creek with Karen DeMello and Debbi Brusco: I am not sure how unusual this is, so at the risk of boring you let me say that tonight at about 7 pm there was a male CA Quail perched on the chain link fence around the PA golf course. No sign of any other quail. We were on the trail which parallels San Francisquito Creek heading towards the Bay, just before the golf course ends at the airport.
There were also 3 Killdeer on the golf course nearby, one with less defined plumage colors so perhaps this year’s offspring. And at least 3 male pheasant on the golf course – probably in addition to a pair seen earlier on the EPA side of the creek.
Near the parking lot by the ball field at the end of Geng Rd was a juvenile oriole – we weren’t skilled enough or well enough equipped with books to know which one. He was yellow with a small black patch under the chin and a shortish bill.
