I actually recorded a pair and 13 fluffly, tiny little babies on July 4,
2002 at Pulgas Ridge in San Mateo county, my only record of baby quail.

Subject: [SBB] Quail Families
In respect to quail babies, we presently have three families in our
yard on the Stanford Campus. Some are probably the equivalent of
teen-agers, another group are pretty small, and the third group were
probably hatched in the last few days. So they are coming thick and
fast. We think we had to wait longer than usual to see any of them
this year.
