[SBB] La Rinconada Park

I spent 90 minutes birding in La Rinconada Park in Los Gatos this morning. The number of species was pretty amazing for this little known gem of a park. Some of you may remember Gloria LeBlanc's postings years ago. She also wrote up the park in "Birding at the Bottom of the Bay". I walked in at the first bridge, birded along the path and into the neighborhood cul de sac at the far end. The birds were found in the following order.

Acorn Woodpecker
Bullocks Oriole
Pacific-slope Flycatcher
Black-headed Grosbeak, later a family group was seen
Spotted Towhee
Am. Robin
Cal. Thrasher one at each end, one in middle
White-breasted Nuthatch
Bewicks Wren
Chestnut-backed Chickadee
Oak Titmouse
Nuttalls Woodpecker
Cal. Quail
No. Rough-winged Swallow
No. Flicker h.
Ash-throated Flycatcher 2 family groups
Dark-eyed Junco
Cal. Towhee
Red-winged Blackbird
Violet Green Swallow
E. Starling
No. Mockingbird and calling fledgling
Red tailed Hawk juv. perched atop pine
Scrub Jay
Wrentit h.
Western Tanager either pale f. adult or juv. feeding alone
Huttons Vireo somewhat of a surprise
Morning Dove
Song Sparrow adults and juv.
Black Phoebe
House Finch
Anna's Hummingbird
Coopers Hawk
Rock Pigeon
Hooded Oriole in palm across the street

A beautiful bobcat crossed the path in front of me and disappeared down the creek bank near the last bridge.
