Subject: [SBB] Possibly injured Red-Tail on Stanford campus
Date: Sun, 2 Jul 2006 20:41:24 -0700 (GMT-07:00)
While walking around Escondido Village on the Stanford campus this evening,
we noticed a red-tailed hawk giving distress calls from the
second-to-highest level's balcony on the Quillen highrise building. There
was another red-tail perched on the adjacent corner of the same building.
Since we live in Escondido Village and we were told under penalty of death
that we are not to own so much as a dust mite for a pet, we're guessing
that the hawk is injured and not a falconer's bird.
We couldn't get a hold of any of the local wildlife rescue operations.
Does anybody else on here know of resources we could pursue to make sure
the raptor is helped? We can't enter the building and we don't know who
lives in that particular apartment, so we can't be absolutely sure that
this is an emergency, but better safe than sorry.
Thanks,
Peter and Amanda Lewis
Stanford, CA
