At midday today I visited the Chareleston Road Marsk. I was less lucky
than Kathy, not picking up any hint of the Waterthrush. [I've heard it
on three previous visits this year, but still haven't seen it.] But I
did see an Orange-crowned Warbler at the east end. Goldfincehs are common
here, but I think I failed to mention that a couple of weeks ago I had a
flock of 35 Americans in one tree.
After this I stopped by the old yacht harbor in Palo Alto Baylands. The
tide was out, but the male Eurasian Wigeon was up on the bank with many
other ducks. (The number of Green-winged Teal here is impressive, well
over 100.)
Actually, all of the above was before lunch, so they aren't exactly
"lunchtime birds". But I did have a turkey sandwich for lunch, and
Rock Pigeons were wandering around....
