I'm happy to report that a female Nutall's Woodpecker
with pristine plumage has been a regular visitor to
the large, hanging nut wreath, a Christmas gift from
Annette Powers, friend and birder. A nice addition to
my many winter yard birds. I'm putting out about a
gallon of seeds per day now, as well as hummer food.
I use two hanging feeders, one ground feeder, a
thistle feeder, and the wreath. I will put a suet
feeder up once the wreath is gone.
Winter (only) birds and others:
White crown
Gold crown
Junco
Quail
House Finch
House Sparrow
Fox Sparrow
Dove
Chicadee
Black Phoebe
California Towhee
Cooper's Hawk
Hermit Thrush
Western Scrub Jay
Anna's Hummingbird
Lesser Goldfinch
American Goldfinch
Spotted Towhee
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Bushtits
(Unfortunately, no White-throated Sparrow, or
Lincoln's Sparrow this winter. No Siskins since early
fall...No sign of the Mockingbird or Robins lately.)
