This morning at 10:00 I saw Ann Verdi's RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER along
Alamitos Rd. at Almaden Reservoir. Coming from New Almaden, as you pass
the houses at 23505 Alamitos Rd. there is a small pullout in Alamitos
Rd. on the right. Lining the pullout are some small live oak trees next
to the road and the bird was working in these oak trees. I found it by
its tapping as it was busily drilling new holes in the treebark. It was
not very wary and allowed me to watch it for a good five minutes as it
moved slowly from tree to tree.
