[SBB] Wood Ducks -- San Francisquito Creek at San Mateo Dr - 2 counties

Today I stopped briefly to look for Wood Ducks in the creek at the bike
bridge to Palo Alto. I lucked into 3 Wood Ducks on the upstream side, one
male and 2 females (or 2 non-adult males), who immediately made themselves
scarce when they observed me looking at them (somehow they do not mind
walkers or bike riders). There might have been 2 males, as a pair flew
upstream and later a male appeared to get the other female-like duck to come
upstream with him. There were 4 Mallards as well.

It was easy county birding on the bridge, most birds flying across to be
counted in both counties:
Steller's Jays, Scrub Jays, YRWarblers, Chickadees, Acorn Woodpeckers,
Nuttall's Woodpeckers, Turkey Vulture, Anna's Hummingbirds, etc.

I looked first for a little while for the YB Sapsucker on San Mateo but did
not find it. The persimmons it was eating are long gone.

Good birding,

Kris Olson, Menlo Park
