Hello SBBers,
The two TREE SWALLOWS (TRES) that checked out nesting cavities yesterday at
Church Avenue and De Paul Circle in San Martin returned today,
1/6/06 at 9 am with a third TRES. A few minutes later there were at
least nine TRES (maybe more) soaring around the neighborhood and investigating
anything that could pass for a nesting cavity. Now, as of 2 pm, it is
warm without a trace of a breeze and the TRES are still foraging and looking for
places to nest. At least half appear to be mature birds and
their familiarity with potential breeding sites leads me to believe
that these mature birds are probably returning nesters.
Either the mature birds have forgotten that Winter is yet to
come, or they know something that I don't know.
