Yesterday’s experience was typical. Spread across all the tree tops in the area – in the park and the neighbourhood are hundreds of AMERICAN CROWS.

I estimated 600 but there could easily be more. I get there at 4:30PM when they appear to be flying in.

They fly around, moving from trees, generally creating quite a racket.

Then the center of mass gradually shifts north and by 5:20PM or so, they have moved out of sight. Not sure where they roost, but I suspect they break up into

smaller groups and spread out.

they're probably headed towards central park for the night. 600 sounds about right.

These guys used to mostly live in the orchard that was at Lawrence and Homestead, where the Kaiser hospital is now. Since then, they've moved around a fair amount, but they do tend to roost in Central Park in evenings (another place they seem to roost is the golf course on Saratoga@Pruneridge). it's even more impressive when they wake up in the morning and all yell at each other before flying off to do whatever juvenile delinquent things crows do during the day.

I'm still waiting to hear the cage match between the crows and the canada geese that use that park... (grin)

Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh
nervously and change the subject.
